Contest Rules and FAQs

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?
Prizes for Team Leaders:

Team Leaders who get 2% of their school and a minimum of 50 classmates to take the No-Tanning pledge will, by request, receive a Your Skin Is In Certificate stating their leadership role in the Your Skin Is In program. They will also be qualified to win the following prizes:

$250 cash (2 winners): Two $250 prizes will be awarded to the Team Leader who gets the highest percentage of pledges and the Team Leader with the highest number of pledges. In the event of a tie, a raffle will be held.
All Team Leaders will be entered into the raffle selected during registration for a chance to win:
1. An airline ticket to fly anywhere in the US (some restrictions apply)
2. Be the face of Your Skin Is In 2011 - your photo and story will be featured on the Foundation's website and on promotional materials for next year's contest
3. Spend the day at Six Flags New England with 20 of your friends. Opportunity for you or a friend to spend the day with the Advertising and Promotions Manager at Six Flags New England
4. Pizza party for you and 50 friends

Prizes for Pledge Signers:

All students who take the No-Tanning Pledge will automatically be entered into a raffle to win one of the following prizes, each valued at $50, two winners per prize.

* Movie passes
* Skin Care gift basket
* Dunkin' Donuts gift card
* Barnes and Nobles gift card
* Target gift card

WHO CAN WIN?

Pledge Requirements: Any student at a college located in New England (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT) can enter the Your Skin Is In contest. The student who registers their college team is considered a "Team Leader" and is required to get a minimum of 2% of their college. Regardless of the school size, each School Team must have a minimum of 50 students who have signed the No-Tanning Pledge to be entered into the raffle. More than one Team Leader can sign up their school using different team names. For example University of Skin might have 3 teams, Team Kelli, Team Delta Nu, and Team Basketball. Students can only pledge once and for one team only.

WHEN ARE THE DEADLINES?

February 1 - the contest opens. Register your college to enter the contest

April 15 - all pledges must be received (either on-line or through the mail).

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?

The contest drawing will be held on 5/1/10. Winners will be notified by telephone.

HOW CAN I GET MY CLASSMATES TO TAKE THE PLEDGE?

1. Check out our posters and print the ones you like to hang up at your school. Or make your own posters and flyers.
2. Set up a table in the commons, the cafeteria and/or your dorm with pledge forms and the facts of tanning to get classmates to sign the pledge. Or promote the program at your team practices, club meetings, etc.
3. Download the Your Skin Is In video to show at an event or gathering, or send the link to your friends and the school website or facebook page. It's only 60 seconds and very powerful.
4. Email us at amason@mfne.org to see if there is a speaker available to visit your school and talk about their experience with melanoma (no cost to you). You can also request that our speaker or volunteer brings a facial scanner to show students the damaging effects of UV rays.
5. Show your classmates the facts of tanning - they will most likely want to sign the pledge!
